I hate the old Lahore

U know wat i hate.. I hate purana Lahore.. So this is a magical place where both red and green lights mean go.. Where u don’t find trees.. Just flimsy branches sticking out of the ground.. Where noise cancelling headphones are a necessity not a luxury.. Where every tom dick and harry thinks they own the whole road.. Buses driving like motorbikes.. Weaving in and out of traffic.. With one hand constantly on the horn.. No one has any respect for traffic rules, one way streets or roundabouts.. As u may have guessed.. I just got back from Lahore and it was NOT pleasant! We Islamabadis are a gentle folk.. Like a herd of gazelles.. The slightest hint of trouble and we are outta there.. But not these guys.. It’s like they are looking for a fight all the time!
Oh and the smell.. The smell here is awful.. I imagine its like horse manure garnished with rotten eggs and bad cheese stuck in a microwave.. Yeah.. It’s pungent but not immediately.. At first its a faint odour.. Then it hits u like a locomotive! For all those who think i'm lying.. Go look for yourselves! And lahories thinking about sending me hate mail.. I’m not talking bout defence, gulberg, model town or cantt.. Its just the rest of it.. the walled city.. yucki gate.. anarkali.. bund road.. No offence to the people living there.. I actually commend u on being there day in day out..
And who in their right mind thot of starting a dental school RIGHT NEXT TO THE RED LIGHT DISTRICT!!! Ok so it is probably a hundred years old.. but there are millions of better places for a well-reputed school.. Oh and they shifted a couple of years ago.. u know where? 500yards down the road.. and it still sucks!!
All im trying to say is.. the ministers, commissioners, mayors or whoever is in control.. is it so hard for them to leave their comfy six-bedroom houses in Defense and sit in an air conditioned foreign car with a chauffer cross the canal and go see how the other half lives! See the roads and the drains.. and do something about them! I heard this song the other day.. u'll think its lame.. but it was pretty close to the truth.. I think its called Bullshit.. by shehzad roy.. that’s how ive been feeling ever since I got back from Lahore..
I’ve had that writer’s block thing again.. just cant shake it!
Any advice?

I hate moving..

U know wat I hate.. I hate moving.. I mean i've moved thrice in the last 10months.. and this winter was horrible.. I couldn’t find any of my good warm clothes! I thought id lost them.. There were so many boxes all over the place.. and I dint have the time to go thru everything.. just found em ALL now.. haa haa.. and every time I had to move, it was like a day after I unpacked my last box.. so this time.. im gonna leave one box unopened.. may be that wud delay the inevitable.. its weird u know.. im the sort of person who gets used to things really quickly.. but the problem is CHANGE.. I hate thinking about moving.. or getting my room redone.. or getting the kitchen extended.. but once its done.. I don’t have a problem getting used to it..
Spent like five hours moving boxes of clothes and electronics up to my new room.. I can’t believe I have SO much stuff.. Alhamdulillah.. I shud have a yard sale.. Id be set for a month!! Haa haa..
And its not just that.. my boss decided we shud move our dental clinic out of the place where its been for the last 18 years and go somewhere new.. new clients, he says.. I don’t buy it..  
Holy crap it’s hot! I was thinking of walking to the market to get a hammer and some nails.. im gonna hang my old school photos in my new room.. I thought I had lost those too.. but I found them at the bottom of my shoe-bag.. Unlike most men.. I have loadsa shoes.. I dunno.. I’m a shopaholic I guess.. it’s the same story every month.. by the last week I’m begging for time to rush by so that payday gets here! I love payday.. counting the old, stinky notes.. love the texture of that paper between my fingertips.. have u ever noticed that whatever currency we use.. the notes in our wallet are the dirtiest things in our whole house.. When a new note comes out of the mint.. it goes into circulation.. and that’s where EVERYONE gets to touch it.. I was watching this thing on TV where they took a dollar bill each from a random group of people and checked it under a microscope.. and u wanna know wat they found? They found teeny-tiny cocaine particles on every note!!
Speaking of drugs and money.. i’ve started watching this TV show called Castle.. it’s the same formula as the X-files.. a boy-girl pairing and both with different ideas and thought processes.. and that’s how they solve baffling mysteries.. But I suppose Castle is better than Undercover Stone..
So how many times have u moved during the last ten years??

I hate when real talent goes unappreciated..

U know wat I hate.. I hate when real talent goes unappreciated.. I was on YouTube.. looking for a song.. and I came across this mash up of Alejandro and OMG with a drum cover.. now this guy playing the drums was BRILLIANT!! And so I went to his channel to see wat other songs he had played and I was really surprised to find that his total channel views were 2891.. So I decided to do a little checking to see if this was good enough.. I looked up the worst musician I knew.. the oh-so-unsure-of-herself Christina Aguilera.. and I found that her total views were 3,435,888!!! Ok fine so the drummer, Tim, started his channel like 2 years later.. but this is not fair!! This guy is really talented and just coz he isn’t a chick who likes to take it all off on TV.. he isn’t famous! Go check him out for yourself.. http://www.youtube.com/user/timlovesdrums
I’ve already said how much I hate reality TV.. but sometimes I just watch the shows for a laugh.. I was watching 'Americas got talent'.. and there wasn’t one hot blonde who was rejected.. and this African American rapper was buzzed off stage.. and a pair of twin-geeky-looking guys playing violin dint even get a chance to sing!! Why? Coz they don’t match the "image".. Wat image? Well for guys it’s this generalized late teenager who has a longish face.. Zero facial hair and a permanent bed head.. yeah bed head.. that’s when a guy spends an hour on his hair to make it seem like he just got out of bed and he doesn’t care!! I can’t believe how wats-his-face from twilight drives millions of girls crazy!!
And for girls.. Well it’s ‘the lighter the better’.. skin AND hair.. and they have to be super-fine.. yeah that’s the expression.. tall.. long-legged.. tight waist and curvy.. well actually curves can be in or out depending on the situation.. for models.. they should be walking-talking-hangers.. and actresses and singers should be slim but not skinny.. there used to be a time when singing was important for singers and acting ability was important for actresses.. but not anymore.. now they just have to be hot.. I’ve seen so many movies where a girl is being chased by a serial killer and and she is acting scared..  she HAS to be wearing revealing clothes! Why?! I’m not saying I don’t enjoy it.. but I wanna know why they can’t get good actors for those roles.. I don’t wanna watch a movie and see that they are acting!! It shud seem natural.. Don’t u think so?!
Arite.. so wat I wanna know today is how much u wud pay for a complete makeover?

I hate it when mom leaves

U know wat I hate.. I hate it when mom leaves L.. Mom came to visit after like a year.. and it was so much fun!! She took care of everything.. I dint have to pick up my dirty clothes off of the floor or do the dishes.. dint have to think bout wat to eat.. or worry bout waking up on time.. its back to the old routine now.. Come back soon mom!!!
I saw two good movies today.. one was ‘the book of ELI’.. interesting concept.. great visuals.. AMAZING fight sequences.. if u haven’t seen it.. u'll love the way Denzel uses that machete.. it’s like watching an artist painting a portrait.. the smooth, random brush strokes adding up to produce a thing of beauty.. and even though Mila kunis is only a bar wench.. she still looks pretty damn good.. SPOILER ALERT: the twist at the end was B-E-A-utiful!!..
The other movie I saw today.. was my parents’ wedding video.. it used to be on VHS obviously.. since mom was leaving today, so as a going away present.. I got the video put on a DVD.. the 27years the cassette spent in different closets and drawers had an effect on it, I guess.. coz the sound was almost completely gone.. and the video quality wasn’t everything I had hoped for.. but it was still a lot of fun watching it.. GAWD, ppl change SO much!! All the family elders looked really young.. haa haa..
So wat else is on my mind.. hmm.. I dunno.. I think im hungry but don’t feel like getting out of bed.. going to the kitchen.. getting something out of the fridge.. and then cooking it! No.. no way im doing that.. id rather just go to sleep while watching ‘Horton hears a Who’ on tele..
Arite.. Question of the day: when u are 60 years old.. wat age wud u like to go back to?

I hate it when people hide behind freedom of speech

U know wat I hate.. I hate it when people hide behind freedom of speech.. I am referring to the recent, highly publicized ‘Draw Muhammad Day’.. freedom of speech is one thing.. but doing something JUST to annoy someone else.. well that’s downright stupid!! I am a Muslim and I have my beliefs.. I don’t try to force anything on anyone else.. and I find it extremely offensive when I see people mocking my religion.. there are 2 ways to do things.. the right way.. which is wat u do when u want to know something.. when u want to find out why something is as it is.. and why its not wat u want it to be.. and then there is the wrong way.. which is where u make up your mind about something and leave no room for reason.. talking for the sake of talking.. discussions just to piss someone else off.. I can expect things like this from high school-ers.. but when well educated, mature people have the same thought process.. wat can be expected for humanity..

So some Christians portray Jesus in their own way.. and only Jewish comedians can tell jokes about jews.. and only African-americans can call each other the N-word.. then why is it that everyone gets a kick out of riling up the whole muslim nation.. I agree some of us do go way beyond wat is necessary.. but who doesn’t have black sheep in the family..

We hold all our Prophets in very high esteem.. this includes but is not limited to Adam, Noah, Elijah, Jacob Joseph, Abrahan, Ishmael, Isaac, Moses, Aaron, Jesus and Muhammad (May peace be on all of them).. If u look up ‘Semitic’ on Wiki.. u might be surprised to learn that ‘In a religious context, the term 'Semitic' can refer to the religions associated with the speakers of these languages: thus Judaism, Christianity and Islam are often described as "Semitic religions" (irrespective of language family spoken by their adherents).’ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semitic#Religion 

All I want to do is to explain to whoever reads this post that freedom of speech doesn’t mean that u SHUD say nasty things about others.. the citizens arrest is a civil right in most countries.. but im sure only a handful of people have ever used it.. you can have free speech but still keep others’ feelings in prespective.. you might think that this drawing competition was all in good fun.. but u need to know that almost 23% of the worlds population follows Islam.. and we are ALL touchy about this subject.. I have many non muslim friends who also felt that this was WRONG.. all of us should speak up against the ignorance and narrow mindedness of the people responsible for this.. violence is NOT the answer.. if u want to know why we think these pictures are a bad idea.. ask a religious authority.. not just muslim.. ask your rabbis, your priests, your pundits and your gurus.. faith in every form brings with it tolerance and love for humanity..

Just saw this on BBC News.. 'A cartoonist whose work inspired an internet campaign inviting people to draw images of the Prophet Muhammad has apologised for her role in the row.'

Now that is a step in the right direction!! Alhumdulillah.. Ok.. so the question for today is.. wat fine print limitations shud be added to the freedom of speech act?
